Last Friday I got a message from a woman who had attended Pups on the Runway.

I had posted a few of the photos from the event and the woman was hoping to get any photos taken by Tara T. Rudy Photography, LLC during the event.

Colleen and her daughter, Melisa, went to see three of the models in the fashion show. Colleen and the models are all retired speech/language pathologists from the Oshkosh schools.

Colleen explained that she and her daughter took their Scottish Terrier, Roosevelt, with them. Sadly, six days after the event, on Wednesday, September 25th, they had to help Roosevelt cross the Rainbow Bridge. She offered a donation if there were photos. As soon as she shared that Roosevelt was in a stroller I knew there were photos. Everyone loved Roosevelt!

I told Colleen how happy I was that Roosevelt and his family and friends had such a carefree time and Pups on the Runway. I thought Roosevelt was the perfect name for for the terrier. And of course she didn’t need to buy them!

Colleen gave me the backstory on the name. Her pup was both on Presidents day in 2013. Since President Franklin D Roosevelt probably had the most famous Scottish Terrier in the White House, they decided to name their new four legged family member after him.

The president’s dog’s name was Fala, the first dog to ever have his own mailing address at the white house!

Roosevelt was eleven and a half years old and, as it turns out, Pups on the Runway was a perfect place for what turned out to be one of his last outings.

“He had a wonderful time at the fashion show,” Collen shared. “We are so glad that we attended. It will take time for our hearts to heal.”

We continue to get emails and messages about people who loved Pups on the Runway for many reasons. But this one story about Roosevelt makes it all worthwhile.

Thank you Tara Rudy Photography, LLC for being there to document all of the many wonderful moments including these of Roosevelt.
